Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences

Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences is the largest "green" university of applied sciences in the Netherlands, born from the merger of historic agricultural schools in Leeuwarden and Velp. It is recognised as the country's leading specialist institution for agriculture, nature and the environment. Its bachelor's programmes, many of them taught in English, cover agriculture and horticulture, livestock and equine studies, nature and environmental management, aquaculture and fisheries, food technology, animal sciences and international agribusiness. Professional master's programmes complete the offer for graduates. The school emphasises project-based learning, demonstration farms and laboratories, and internships with green-sector companies and organisations in the Netherlands and abroad. The community is highly international, especially at the Velp campus, and graduates move into agribusiness, water and environmental management and roles across the food chain.
