Marnix Academie

The Marnix Academie is a teacher training institute in Utrecht specialised in the pabo, the Dutch degree programme leading to primary school teaching. As a publicly funded institution, it has trained a substantial share of the Netherlands' primary school teachers for decades. The programme, offered full-time, part-time or as an accelerated three-year track, combines classroom internships from the outset with didactic workshops and theoretical coursework. Students develop their pedagogical, didactic and organisational skills within a close-knit school culture. The academy places particular emphasis on international orientation, with study weeks abroad, international internships and exchanges under the Erasmus+ programme. An emergency fund and personal guidance schemes support students throughout their studies.
