About Royal Institute of Art

The Royal Institute of Art (KKH) is one of Sweden's oldest institutions of artistic education. Founded in 1735, it is housed in the former artillery barracks on the island of Skeppsholmen in central Stockholm. It offers a five-year fine art programme leading to a master's degree, as well as a two-year Master's programme in Fine Arts and a doctoral programme in fine arts. Teaching prioritizes studio practice, critical dialogue and experimentation across all media, from painting to digital art. With its outstanding workshops, renowned artist-teachers and small student community, it trains artists who appear on the international contemporary art scene.
