Codarts University of the Arts

Codarts, University of the Arts is Rotterdam's higher education institution for the performing arts, created in 2000 through the merger of the Rotterdam Conservatoire and the dance academy, with roots going back to the mid-nineteenth century. It offers bachelor's degrees in music (classical, jazz, pop, world music, production), dance (ballet, contemporary and urban), circus arts and music theatre, together with master's programmes in music, choreography and arts therapies. A preparatory year for artistic higher education and an affiliated secondary school complete the offer. Codarts pursues excellence through intensive practice: one-to-one lessons, ensembles, regular stage productions and collaborations with Rotterdam's cultural institutions. Admission is by demanding audition and the community is highly international; the school is known for the quality of its physical and mental support for artists in training.
