The Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK) is one of Europe's oldest and most prestigious art academies, founded in 1682. Part of the University of the Arts The Hague, it is housed in a historic building in the city centre, close to the Dutch parliament. KABK offers bachelor's degrees in fine art and design — graphic design, interaction and costume design, photography, fine art, textile and glass design, typographic design — alongside master's programmes in graphic design, interior architecture, photography and type and media. A pre-master and preparatory courses complete the portfolio. The academy fosters research and experimentation, combining strong theoretical grounding with close ties to the professional art and design world. Studios stay open around the clock, cohorts are deliberately small, and the community is highly international, with well over half of the students coming from abroad.
