Design Academy Eindhoven

Design Academy Eindhoven (DAE) is one of the most influential design schools in the world. Founded in 1947 as an industrial design academy, it is housed in the iconic De Witte Dame building in the heart of Eindhoven, the Dutch city of design and technology. DAE offers a four-year bachelor's degree in design and master's programmes in Social Design, Information Design, Contextual Design, Design Curating and Writing, and The Critical Inquiry Lab. Its approach is deliberately "non-disciplinary": rather than training students for a product category, the school invites them to interrogate social, ecological and technological questions through design. The academy is famous for its graduate shows presented each year during the Dutch Design Week and for its alumni who have become leading figures of contemporary design. Intake is international, English is the language of instruction, and the method relies on studios, one-to-one tutoring and a culture of intense, self-directed research.
