About UST (University of Science and Technology)

The University of Science and Technology (UST) is a public institution of a unique kind: founded in 2003 and based in Daejeon, it operates as a network with more than thirty government research institutes across the country. It offers only master's and doctoral programmes in science and engineering: biotechnology, computing, robotics, energy, environment, materials and aerospace. Students are trained directly within national R&D projects as salaried student-researchers. UST covers tuition for virtually all of its students and pays monthly salaries (about KRW 1.2 million at master's level, KRW 1.6 million at doctoral level), making it an exceptional springboard for a scientific career. More than 30% of its students are international.
