University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice

The University of South Bohemia (JCU) is a public institution founded in 1991 in České Budějovice, capital of South Bohemia. It has become a major academic centre of the region, in particular through its proximity to the Czech Academy of Sciences, with which it shares a campus and a biology research hub of European standing. It brings together faculties of philosophy and arts, theology, health and social studies, natural sciences, economics and management, education, fisheries and water protection, and agriculture. Its provision covers biology, ecology, hydrobiology and fisheries, agronomy, economics, pedagogy, nursing, social work, theology, history and languages. Around 10,000 students enjoy a remarkable setting between a historic city and the pond-land countryside, along with English-taught programmes in science and economics. Czech-taught studies are free of charge within the standard duration.
