Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI)

Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) is the country's foremost education university. Founded in Bandung in 1954 as a teacher training college, later IKIP Bandung and renamed UPI in 1999, it is Indonesia's national reference centre for teacher training, educational research and pedagogical innovation, with the legal status of a public university body (PTN-BH). UPI is organised into faculties and schools covering all fields of education, together with mathematics and natural sciences, languages, arts and design, economics and management, educational technology, sports and social sciences. It enrolls tens of thousands of students at its main Bandung campus and regional campuses, offering bachelor's, master's and doctoral programmes, including a growing portfolio of international tracks. Tuition follows the national UKT system, with group 1 set at IDR 500,000 per semester for undergraduate programmes, higher groups varying by field, and one-off institutional development contributions (IPI) for independently admitted students. KIP-K scholarship holders are exempt from tuition fees.
