Universitas Mulawarman (UNMUL)

Universitas Mulawarman (UNMUL) is a public university located in Samarinda, the capital of East Kalimantan on the island of Borneo. Founded in 1962 and named after a legendary king of Kutai, it is the province's leading higher education institution and has trained its professional workforce for over sixty years. UNMUL covers forestry, agriculture, fisheries and marine sciences, law, economics and business, engineering, social and political sciences, medicine, mathematics and natural sciences, and teacher training. Its forestry faculty is among Indonesia's most respected, in connection with the management of Kalimantan's vast tropical forests. The graduate school offers master's and doctoral programmes across most of these disciplines. Tuition follows the national UKT system, with rates ranging from around IDR 500,000 per semester for the lowest group up to IDR 25,000,000 for the most expensive programmes, supplemented by one-off institutional development contributions (SPI) for independently admitted students, as set in ministry-approved rectoral decisions.
