About Pedagogical University of Krakow (now UKEN)

The Pedagogical University of Krakow, now the University of the National Education Commission (UKEN), is Poland's oldest higher education institution for teacher training, founded in 1946 on the legacy of the eighteenth-century National Education Commission. Its programmes cover education science, pedagogy, languages, history, philosophy, sociology, psychology, fine arts, computer science, law and administration. The university awards bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees and trains a large share of the country's teachers. Now a full university, it has diversified into social sciences, technology and security studies. With more than 20,000 students and 80 programmes, it is one of Krakow's most dynamic academic centres.
