About Oslo National Academy of the Arts

The Oslo National Academy of the Arts (Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo, KHiO) is Norway's largest institution of higher artistic education. Created in 1996 by merging the academies of visual art, design, theatre and dance, it is housed in the former naval academy at Skippergata in Oslo. It awards bachelor's and master's degrees in visual art, design, theatre, dance and opera conducting, with around 500 students and a strong studio and laboratory culture. The academy maintains close ties with the Norwegian and international art scene. Since 2023, non-EU/EEA students pay annual tuition fees, while EU/EEA citizens remain exempt.
