About Athens School of Fine Arts

The Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA) is Greece's principal institution of higher artistic education, founded in 1837. Its history virtually coincides with that of the modern Greek state, and most of the country's greatest artists have taught there. The school comprises two departments: the Department of Fine Arts and the Department of Art Theory and History of Art. Since 1992 it has been housed in the former Sikiaridis textile factory at 256 Pireos Street, a fine example of mid-20th-century industrial architecture. ASFA awards undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees in visual arts and art studies, welcomes international students and takes part in Erasmus+ exchanges. Studies are conducted mainly in Greek, with fees set by national regulations.
